A BN51 is a 48 Frame, 2 Horsepower. 230Volt 2 speed, thru-bolt pump motor with stand from AO Smith. Spa manufactures often put "marketing horsepowers" on their motors, we suggest you look at the amperage of the motor you are replacing and purchase one that is rated equal or higher. A BN51 motor is rated for 10.5amps on high speed. Putting a smaller amperage on your current wet end can cause for premature motor failure that is not covered by the warranty. When replacing a pump motor like a BN-51 we strongly recommend you replace the shaft seal at the same time. A previously used shaft seal may not seal correctly allowing for leakage into the motor.
